This constitution was ratified at a general meeting of the ICECAP at Royal Waterloo House on 11th. July 2007 1. NAME 1.1 The name of the body formed under this constitution shall be the International Collaboration of Existential Counsellors and Psychotherapists (hereinafter called the Collaboration). 2. OBJECTS OF THE COLLABORATION 2.1 Promoting the study of the scientific, philosophical, and ethical basis of existential psychotherapy. 2.2 Enabling the international exchange of theory and good practice in existential psychotherapy 2.3 Establishing regional chapters of psychotherapy which will enable existential psychotherapists to obtain certification with the World Council for Psychotherapy, or other regional associations affiliated to the World Council, such as the European Association for Psychotherapy. 2.4 Extending the contribution that psychotherapy can make on its own or through cooperation with other disciplines to the enhancement of personal adaptation to social crisis and social change. 2.5 Supporting the exchange of information and ideas between psychotherapists by whatever appropriate means, including the provision of a meeting place and library. 2.6 Acting as a forum and focus for discussion of issues relating to the wider professional community. 2.7 Fostering public understanding of psychotherapy, and promoting psychotherapy education and awareness. 2.8 Promoting independent, authoritative advice to national and international organizations and institutions, including government, on psychotherapy. 2.9 Encouraging psychotherapy research and its application. 2.10 Disseminating the results of research through meetings, lectures, exhibitions and publications in both printed and electronic media. 2.11 Providing a forum for the exploration of the common ground of the psychotherapies. 3.
